Join us as we learn all about this ancient Japanese technique of glazing and firing Raku ceramics.
Northern based ceramic artist, Natasha And Pots will demonstrate this 16th century skill, originally used at the Japanese Tea Ceremonies, to create a dramatic and unique take on firing pottery.
The session will start with a demonstration from Natasha on how to use the kiln as she guides you through the process of creating the different designs and glazes on the ceramic pots. After this, it’ll be your turn, with the help of Natasha, each guest will be given a vazon and pot to create your own Raku design and learn how to use the kiln. Once your Raku ceramics have been in the fire and cooled down, you will be able to take home and use.
Suitable for all levels of skill, including complete beginners. The course includes all materials. Please wear suitable clothing as the workshop will be mostly outside.
