About Regatta.... Louise Plant Regatta Louise Plant is a British sculptor with a dedicated interest in marble, steel, and bronze. Her work considers how human energy and movement influence the spaces around us. This series of work is entitled Regatta and highlights the contrast of rigid stone with the fluidity of water; elements of predetermination and flukes in nature. The immediate force within eddies, borne from the pull of an oar, is captured and committed to stone. Despite the weight of the sculpture’s body, the result is anything but static. Curator’s tip: As you move around each object, allow the light to guide your gaze across the sharp lines and cyclical curves. Also note the negative space, highlighting the structures in water that are usually unseen.
